Technology Description:

This computerized out-door sampler has a weather mode and direct control mode of operation. The weather mode enables the user to collect up to eight air samples based on WIND DIRECTION and WIND SPEED. User defined sampling sectors will satisfy most up wind/down wind applications. This sampler will work with any weather station analog output. The direct control mode enables the user to collect up to eight samples based on DATE, TIME, DURATION, and FLOWRATE. The direct mode allows the user to select a different flowrate and sample duration for each sample. The sampler displays a simple menu for the operator to key in how and when the samples are to be collected. The computer activates the power to the vacuum pump, mass flow controller, and OPTIONAL in-board data logger automatically. A 10-minute warm up precedes the beginning of any sequence. If a power failure occurs, the computer does a brief comparison when power is restored to find out how much time was lost, and then proceeds to the appropriate sample.

This sampler includes: an inlet manifold with eight built-in check valves and one blank port; a vacuum pump; one electronic mass flow controller with flow rates up to 4 liters/min; a communication port to a weather station; and a microprocessor controller.

These Meteorological stations meet all requirements for U.S. EPA ambient monitoring guidelines, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency guideline 1.23, and the American Nuclear Society standards for meteorological monitoring. These stations are intended for use with Supelco's Dual Mode Air Sampler Model 2230.

          Meteorological Station #1
This station consists of one high resolution wind speed and wind direction monitor, one lightweight aluminum tripod that extends from 5' to 9'2", and a 40 foot cable.

          Meteorological Station #2
This station consists of one high resolution wind speed and wind direction sensor, one high accuracy capacitance relative humidity sensor, one platinum RTD temperature sensor, one gill multi-plate radiation shield, one programmable translator/logger, one light-weight aluminum tripod that extends from 5' to 9'2", and two 40 foot cables.

          Meteorological Station #3
This station consists of one high resolution wind speed and wind direction sensor, one high accuracy capacitance relative humidity sensor, one platinum RTD temperature sensor, one gill multi-plate radiation shield, one barometric pressure sensor, one unheated rain gauge, one solar radiation sensor, one programmable translator/logger, one light-weight aluminum tripod that extends from 5' to 9'2", two 40 foot cables, and two 10 foot cables.
