The Fish and Wildlife Information Exchange (FWIE) is a technical assistance center and information clearinghouse for fish, wildlife, and land management agencies and organizations. The FWIE maintains and distributes information and offers training in computer applications, database management, and use. Users can access this site via the World Wide Web, and can link to areas of assistance provided by the FWIE, including:
Species Information System - includes the Master Species File. FWIE hopes to have over 10,000 species accounts available in the near future.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) - The FWIE develops geographic information systems for agencies and organizations.
Research - The FWIE has recently taken on research, survey, and monitoring project management responsibilities for agencies where multi-disciplinary teams of researchers, technicians, and students are needed to collect and analyze data on the biota of a property.
Training - The FWIE provides database user and manager training on a request basis. They have developed a generic course entitled Computer Applications in Fish and Wildlife Management.
