The Vendor Field Analytical and Characterization Technologies System (VENDOR-FACTS) is a database developed by EPA's Technology Innovation Office and National Exposure Research Laboratory in Las Vegas. The database was developed to disseminate much needed information on innovative techniques for site and waste characterization and to promote the use of more cost-effective methods for on-site monitoring and measurement. It is updated on an annual basis by EPA. The database contains information provided to EPA by vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers on the applicability, performance, and current use of their products. More specifically, the system includes technologies for the detection and quantification of priority pollutants in the air, soil, and water; as well as various screening technologies such as immunoassay kits. It serves as a tool for professionals involved with the cleanup of hazardous waste sites to gather information on the application, cost, performance, and current use of field portable equipment. and to assess new monitoring and measurement technologies.
VENDOR-FACTS is available free-of-charge from NCEPI on diskette. It can also be downloaded from http://www.prcemi.com/vfacts or from EPA's Cleanup Information (CLU - IN) Bulletin Board System at http://clu-in.com/pubalpha.htm#V.
