The American Petroleum Institute has sponsored the development of the Exposure and Risk Assessment Decision Support System (DSS), a software system designed to assist environmental professionals in estimating human exposure and risk from sites contaminated with petroleum products. The Exposure and Risk Assessment Decision Support System (DSS) is a valuable, user-friendly tool that can be used to:
1. Estimate site-specific risks,
2. Identify the need for site remediation,
3. Develop and negotiate site-specific cleanup levels with regulatory agencies, and
4. Efficiently and effectively evaluate the effect of uncertainty in input parameters on estimated
risk.
