Abstract:

The EPA Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) has produced a series of fact sheets summarizing the results of the 1995 Toxics Release Inventory (TRI). Each of the 52 fact sheets details the results for one state (including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands), summarizing the reported releases to air, surface water, land, and underground injection during 1995. The top five chemicals released and the top ten facilities for releases are listed for each state, along with the amounts (in pounds) released to the air, water, land, and underground injection.

The 1995 TRI State Fact Sheets are available for downloading from the OPPT TRI web site. They have been converted to portable document format (PDF) file. The entire set of fact sheets may be downloaded, or each two-page fact sheet may be downloaded separately for each state. Users will need a copy of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software, available from the Adobe web site. These fact sheets have also been put into a hard copy report (EPA publication 745-F-97-001) which may be ordered from the EPA National Center for Environmental Publications and Information (NCEPI). Printed copies of this report are available free while supplies last.
