Numerical model charts consist of vorticity charts and mean relative humidity/vertical velocity charts. These charts are analyzed twice daily and present mean relative humidity, vertical velocity, 500 millibar height contours, and absolute vorticity isopleths from May 1, 1961 to present.
Mean relative humidity/vertical velocity charts: These charts of North America are analyzed twice a day and prepared by the National Weather Service, National Meteorological Center. The charts depict mean relative humidity through the three lowest layers of the seven-layer primitive equations (PE) numerical prediction model and vertical velocity isopleths at the 700-millibar level. These charts are available from May 1, 1961 through the present.
Vorticity charts: These charts are produced on computer and analyzed twice daily by the National Weather Service, National Meteorological Center. They show 12-, 24-, 36-, and 48-hour forecasts for North America. The basis for these charts is the seven-layer primitive equation (PE) numerical prediction model. The charts depict 500-millibar-height contours and absolute vorticity isopleths. The charts are available from May 1, 1961 through the present.
