Abstract:

TOXNET is a computerized system of files on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas operated by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Access to TOXNET allows users to search numerous databases and easily move from one database to another while in the TOXNET system.

          The following databases are available through TOXNET:

          ChemID - Chemical Identification File

          DIRLINE - Directory of Information Resources Online
          EMIC - Environmental Mutagen Information Center File
          EMICBACK - Environmental Mutagen Information Center Backfiles

          How To Access The Data

          Access to TOXNET is available 24 hours/day via modem or through the Internet via TELNET. Users must obtain a user code and set up a billing account by filling out an application from the NLM Specialized Information Services (SIS) prior to accessing the databases.
