Overview of State Regulations
Wyoming has adopted the federal asbestos regulations.
State/Federal Agencies Involved with the State Asbestos Program
The following agencies/entities have asbestos-related regulatory and enforcement responsibilities in Wyoming:
A. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division (contact phone (307) 777-7394 , general phone (307) 777-7340) is involved in the following state/federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:
- pre-abatement notifications/approvals
- NESHAP/demolition/renovation/wet/tag/bag/bury
- site audits/inspections
- transportation - packaging
- disposal.
B. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Solid and Hazardous Waste Division (contact phone (307) 777-7164 , general phone (307) 777-7752 ) is involved in the following state/federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:
- permits - landfills
- site audits/inspections
- disposal.
C. The Wyoming Safety and Compensation Division - Worker Safety (general phone (307) 777-7786) is involved in the following state/federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:
- OSHA/worker safety/medical surveillance - except for Air Force Bases and federal buildings
- site audits/inspections.

E. The Federal OSHA Region 8 (general phone (303) 844-1600) is involved in the following federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:
- OSHA/worker safety/medical surveillance - only Air Force Bases and federal buildings.
Laboratory Requirements
There are no state-specific accreditation requirements for laboratories and analysts performing asbestos analyses.
Federal regulations require laboratories and analysts performing asbestos analyses to be properly accredited. Contact the two following organizations for accreditation information:
