Abstract:

A Record of Decision (ROD) is a decision document prepared by the lead agency for a Superfund site. The ROD has three purposes: certifying that the remedy selection process was carried out in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); outlining the technical engineering components and remediation goals of the selected remedy; and providing a source of information for the public.

The EPA provides online access to Records of Decision System (RODS) data. Users can browse areas alphabetically by state and obtain information specific to a site, including a RODS abstract along with the site remedy. RODS data is also available on CD-ROM through the National Technical Information Service (NTIS). In addition, paper RODS reports can be requested by calling the Superfund Automated Phone System and ordering product number 203. To assist in preparing the RODS reports, customers are asked to provide information such as site name, location, EPA ID, etc. Pricing for the reports can only be determined after the specific request is received. Before the request is processed, the customer will be contacted to confirm the request and payment responsibility.
