The Journal of Aquatic Ecosystem Stress and Recovery (formerly the Journal of Aquatic Ecosystem Health) is dedicated to disseminating information and promoting scientific knowledge on approaches to analyzing the significance of stressors on various aquatic ecosystems (marine, estuarine and freshwater). Published quarterly, this journal provides a forum for environmental professionals to address critical issues related to evaluating the integrity of aquatic systems. Specific areas of interest for the journal include:
- Establishing functional relationships of biotic components as they relate to understanding links between different levels of biological organization
- Studying the cumulative effect of diverse stressors (contaminant, habitat, exploitation etc.) on aquatic ecosystems and their consequences relative to altering the function or recovery of these systems
- Development and application of new techniques for determining the magnitude and significance of anthropogenic stressors at the population and community levels
- Encouragement of multi-disciplinary approaches to the study, evaluation and solution of complex aquatic ecosystem management problems
- Studying the relation between indicators of ecological integrity and human health.
