Abstract:

The WIRS Database is an online resource center for information on lake and watershed restoration, protection and management. Operated by the Terrene Institute in partnership with U.S. EPA's Clean Lakes Program, WIRS offers technical information to federal, state and local lake managers and associations, academics, researchers and consultants.

The WIRS database is a bibliographic database which includes abstracts of technical reports, conference proceedings, government documents, journal articles, Clean Lakes Program reports, and books. The WIRS database currently indexes some 5,000 watershed-related documents, both recent and classic studies. Documents published within the past five years comprise roughly 25 percent of the database. Some of the topics covered include: aquatic ecology; lake management and protection; modeling and wetlands; point and non-point sources of pollution; restoration techniques; water quality assessment techniques; watershed management/BMPs; and watershed problems.

          How To Access The Data
