Overview of State Regulations

          Mississippi has state asbestos regulations for certification of asbestos personnel and for landfill disposal. The state is NESHAP-delegated by the USEPA.

          State/Federal Agencies Involved with the State Asbestos Program

          The following agencies/entities have asbestos-related regulatory and enforcement responsibilities in Mississippi:

          A. The Office of Pollution Control, Certification Branch (contact phone (601) 961-5303, general phone (601) 961-5171), is involved in the following state/federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:
        • training, personnel - Mississippi's state asbestos training courses are fully approved by the EPA Region 4.

          Laboratory Requirements

          There are no state-specific accreditation requirements for laboratories and analysts performing asbestos analyses.

          Federal regulations require laboratories and analysts performing asbestos analyses to be properly accredited. Contact the two following organizations for accreditation information:
