Abstract:

CHCT serves the Northeast, Mid Atlantic and Central Regions of the United States offering treatment of inorganic-based non-hazardous and listed/characteristic hazardous wastes, including lab packs, and stabilization/fixation of sludges and solids intended for land disposal. The facility also accepts hazardous wastes and PCB's for storage, consolidation, and transfer to other company-owned facilities or offsite treatment and disposal facilities. CHCT performs dismantling of scrap and surplus equipment (e.g., computer components, machine parts, laboratory equipment) for removal of regulated materials and/or recovery of recyclable materials (e.g., scrap metal).

Typical waste streams accepted by the facility include: electroplating baths, rinsewaters, and treatment sludges; corrosive acids; PCB's; solid oxidizers; surplus machines and computers for scrap; contaminated process wastewaters; inorganic cleaning solutions; oils; spent flammable solvents; organic and inorganic laboratory chemicals; paint residues; debris from toxic or reactive chemical cleanup.

The EPA waste streams currently authorized for storage and primary treatment at CHCT include: ignitable (D001); corrosive (D002); reactive (D003); and toxicity characteristic (D004 - D043) wastes, and many F-, K-, P- and U-coded wastes. The wastes accepted for storage and transfer include over 240 FlCRA hazardous waste codes.
