Technology Description:

Gallard-Schlesinger offers a full range of test papers for the semi-quantitative determination of selected cations, anions, and substances. All test papers are impregnated with a chemical indicator. When the test paper is dipped into a solution containing the specific ion or substance, the color change of the test paper is compared to the provided color scale to determine the amount of ion or substance present. We also offer a variety of qualitative test paper.

One box of any of our test papers usually measures under 4 inches x 2 inches x 1 inch.

We have test papers for pH and the following ions and substances:

Aluminum, Chlorine, Fluoride, Nitrite, Potassium, Zinc, Ammonium, Chromium, Iron, Oil, Silver, Antimony, Cobalt, Lead, Peroxide, Sulfide, Arsenic, Copper, Nickel, pH, Sulfate, Chloride, Cyanide, Nitrate, Phosphate, Tin
Performance Status/
Limitations:

Performance Status:

Our test papers are currently being used as quick-tests by the waste handling and waste characterization industry, as well as, plating, food, mining, photographic and other industries.

          Limitations:

Each test paper is made for the detection of only a specific ion or substance. Concentrated solutions, that is, those having a concentration in excess of 1 gram per liter, have to be diluted until the intensity of the color on the test paper is within the range of the printed scale. The typical concentration gradation range in ppm is: 0-5-10-25-50-100-250-500. The dilution factor has to be taken into consideration when calculating the sample concentration.

In some instances, there are other materials which interfere if present in the solution being tested. These interferences have to be eliminated by precipitation or masking.
