The Alabama Attorney General provides legal advice and representation for the state, officers, and citizens. The Attorney General defends the State in all lawsuits in which the State is named as a defendant. In addition to this, the Attorney General may initiate court action, both civil and criminal, to protect the State's interests or to enforce State law. The Attorney General investigates complaints involving air and water pollution, ground water contamination, hazardous waste disposal, etc. The divisions include: Capital Litigation; Civil; Criminal Appeals; Environmental; Medicaid and Welfare Fraud; Opinions and Agencies; Violent Crime Prosecution; White Collar Crime. |
