The ClearingHouse for Inventories and Emission Factors (CHIEF) serves as EPA's central clearinghouse for the latest information on air emission inventories and emission factors, including access to several tools for estimating emissions of air pollutants. CHIEF provides information on how to locate sources of, and estimate emissions from, various toxic air pollutants as well as how to estimate emissions from several source categories of air toxics. Air emission estimation data bases, newsletters, announcements and guidance on performing inventories are included in CHIEF. EPA encourages frequent access to CHIEF to obtain new information and to communicate with other users. CHIEF serves as a forum for technical interchange between EPA, State and local agencies, and the private sector, and includes access to Factor Information Retrieval System (FIRE), TANKS, the CHIEF newsletter, and other useful information and tools.
Information in CHIEF can be accessed online through EPA's Technology Transfer Network (TTN) World Wide Web site, or by calling the CHIEF Hotline. The CHIEF Bulletin Board Service (BBS) is being phased out by EPA.
