Technology Description:

Endeco / YSI has developed a multi-parameter measuring / logging system designed to measure up to six parameters simultaneously. The Endeco / YSI Model 600 can measure dissolved oxygen, temperature, conductivity, depth, pH and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) in surface or groundwater. This system can be used for monitoring, spot-checking, profiling or in-situ measurement. The Model 600 system is portable, weighs less than 3 pounds and can fit down 2" monitoring wells.

          The Endeco / YSI Model 600 features the patented "Rapid-Pulse" technology for dissolved oxygen measurement. This technology is similar to the Clark polargraphic probe technology developed by Dr. Leland Clark, however, the Rapid-Pulse probe is quickly polarized and de-polarized (turned on and off) during a measurement sequence. This technology eliminates the need for stirring the sample, thus reducing power requirements, making the 600 an ideal instrument for long term deployment. In addition, the Rapid-Pulse probe eliminates the need for thick, slow responding teflon membranes when measuring in low flow conditions.
Performance Status/
Limitations:

The technical limitations of the Endeco / YSI Model 600 is primarily limited to the measurement range of each parameter. The ranges are as follows:
1) Dissolved oxygen - 0 to 200% saturation (0 to 20mg/L)
2) Conductivity - 0 to 100mS/cm
3) Temperature - -5 to 45 degrees C.
4) pH - 0 to 14 units
5) ORP - 999 to 999 mV
6) Salinity - 0 to 70 ppt
7) Depth - 0 to 200 feet
