PCS consists of a national computerized management information system that automates entry, updating, and retrieval of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) data and tracks permit issuance, permit limits and monitoring data, and other data pertaining to facilities regulated under NPDES. PCS records water discharge permit data on more than 64,000 facilities nationwide.
How To Access The Data
The PCS database can be accessed online free of charge at the Envirofacts Web site listed below. The Web site contains forms for online database queries (searches). Search for facilities by using any combination of facility name, geographic location, standard industrial classification, and chemicals.
In addition, computer extracts are available for purchase from NTIS on diskette for the following types of data in PCS: facility address and permit information; significant non-compliance list by quarter; current effluents permit limitations; enforcement actions; compliance schedules; and facility inspections.
