WHOI engages in research and policy analysis on global environmental problems, with a focus on biotic resources and their role in maintaining a habitable earth. Research subjects include: applied ocean physics, applied ocean engineering, biology, geology, geophysics, marine chemistry, geochemistry, marine policy, and physical oceanography.
Current work includes climatic change issues, sustainable use of resources, and restoration of degraded lands.
