Abstract:

Maps showing flood-prone area outlined on standard United States Geological Survey (USGS) topographic quadrangles. Flood-prone areas are outlined on standard USGS topographic quadrangles at a scale of 1:24,000 as part of the national program for managing flood losses in urban areas mandated by the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 and the recommendations of the Task Force on Federal Flood Control Policy (89th Congress). Efforts to produce these maps began in 1969. As of Fiscal Year 1976, over 12,000 quadrangles had been mapped.
