Abstract:

Supplemental Official Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Block Diagrams (SOBDs) are approved Minerals Management Service (MMS) diagrams developed as supplements to Official Protraction Diagrams (OPDs) and Leasing Maps (LMs) in accordance with 30 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 256.8. They depict areal measurements, projected and non-projected boundaries, offshore boundary intersection coordinates, and Federal and State land ownership for individual OCS cadastre grid blocks.

NAD 27 SOBDs at approximate 1:39,500 scale (1 inch = 3,300 feet and 1 inch = 1,000 meters) detail offshore boundary intersections, contributing computational baseline points, and Federal and State land ownership for individual OPD and LM cadastre grid blocks adjoining the State Seaward Boundary and the Limit of "8(g) Zone." SOBD areal measurements and coordinate values reflect those of the parent OPD (English " acres and feet; or metric " hectares and meters) or LM (English), usually to 2 decimal places.

NAD 83 SOBDs at approximate 1:39,400 scale (1 inch = 1,000 meters) detail offshore boundary intersections, contributing computational baseline points, and Federal and State land ownership for individual OPD or LM cadastre grid blocks adjoining the State Seaward Boundary, the Limit of "8(g) Zone," and international maritime boundaries. SOBD areal measurements in hectares and coordinate values in meters reflect the metric values of the parent OPD to 6 decimal places and 3 decimal places, respectively.
