Abstract:

The National Ground Water Information Center (NGWIC) is a fee-based information service affiliated with the National Ground Water Association (NGWA). The Ground Water Network is owned and operated by the NGWIC, and contains the following six databases relating to ground water:

          Ground Water On-Line (GWOL): lists nearly 80,000 ground water literature citations from scientific, technical, and trade journals; newsletters; books; government documents; university reports; dissertations and theses; state publications; and proceedings of national and international conferences and symposia. Included in the database are keywords, abstracts, chemical compounds, biological factors, geographic locations, authors, titles, publication source names, and more

          NGWA Certified Ground Water Contractors: lists water well contractors, monitoring well contractors, and pump installers who have qualified for the NGWA voluntary certification program.

          WellCount: provides private water well use data for households, arranged by state, county, and zip code.

          Developing World Ground Water: contains 5000 literature records focused on water supply and sanitation in developing countries.

          Urban Water Source: identifies ground water use for more than 1000 urban areas, and includes general water quality data for many municipalities.

          Water Treatability: contains comprehensive water treatability information.

          How To Access The Data

          Information from the databases in the Ground Water Network can be accessed in several ways:

          1. NGWA members automatically receive free, unrestricted use of online searching through the NGWA web site.

          2. Nonmembers can subscribe to the the GWOL database (listed as "GW On-Line" at the NGWA Web site) for a yearly access fee.

          3. NGWIC staff can conduct fee-based valet searches of the databases upon request.

          Information located by searching the GWOL database can be requested from NGWIC for a fee.
