Abstract:

Envirofacts is a relational database that integrates data extracted monthly from the following five facility (or site) based EPA program systems:

        • The Permit Compliance System (PCS) provides data on more than 75,000 water-discharge permits.
        • The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Information System (CERCLIS) provides Superfund data on hazardous waste site assessment and remediation.
        • The Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) provides data about the estimated annual amounts of potentially hazardous chemicals released to the environment, as submitted to the EPA from industrial facilities around the country.
        • The Resource Conservation and Recovery Information System (RCRIS) contains data in five major subject areas: handler identification; permitting/closure/post closure; compliance monitoring and enforcement; corrective action; and program management.
        • The AIRS Facility Subsystem (AFS) contains both emissions and compliance data on air pollution point sources regulated by the U.S. EPA and/or state and local air regulatory agencies.

Envirofacts contains data that are available under the freedom of Information Act (FOIA). No enforcement, budget-sensitive, or proprietary business information is contained in this database.

          How To Access The Data

The Envirofacts database is available on the Internet at the Web site address listed above. Access to selected data is provided through online query forms which execute pre-defined queries for the types of facilities selected.

Access to all the data is available by connecting to the database directly using database access software with the appropriate driver software for connecting to a relational database.
