Abstract:

The CORR database contains information on chemicals which are regulated under specific sections of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), or section 313 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). These chemicals have been the subject of proposed or final rules issued by the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) in the Federal Register (FR). This database covers the rulemaking period from October 24, 1980 to the present. It is updated quarterly in January, April, July, and October.

          How To Access The Data

There are two ways to access the data:

          1. The database can be searched online at the SOCMA Web site above. Users can search the database by the following Search Criteria:
        • Name
        • PMN
        • CAS #

          2. The database can be downloaded at no cost through either Web site listed above. To retrieve data from the files, you must have a database management program such as Access, Dbase, or Foxpro; no search software is included in the download.

          How To Use The Data

CORR consists of two files in .DBF format. The CHEMICAL file (6750 records) contains a list of chemical substances and classes which are regulated by certain sections of TSCA and EPCRA. The FEDREG file (606 records) contains the list of Federal Register (FR) citations which are relevant to the regulation of the chemicals in the CHEMICAL file. The purpose of CORR is to link information about TSCA- and EPCRA-regulated chemicals with their respective FR citations and/or Premanufacture Notice (PMN) information.

To find a particular chemical, search the CHEMICAL file for the CAS number, PMN number, or the chemical name. CAS numbers and PMN numbers are the more efficient search parameters. Once the chemical record is retrieved, the CITATION field will contain an entry, such as 59FR12345. This citation number can then be searched in the FEDREG file, and the relevant information will be contained in the retrieved record.
