Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) data is collected, validated, and maintained by state and EPA Regional Offices in the RCRIS database. RCRIS contains data in five major subject areas: handler identification; permitting/closure/post closure; compliance monitoring and enforcement; corrective action; and program management.
The data can be accessed in three ways:
1. Seaching on the Internet - Database queries can be performed online through the Right-To-Know (RTK) Net at http://www.rtk.net/rcrissearch.html and through EnviroFacts at http://www.epa.gov/enviro/html/rcris/rcris_overview.html (scroll down to the RCRIS Queries link at EnviroFacts).
2. Download Files from Internet - Go to the RCRIS Web site listed below and scroll down to three links: "List of Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDs)", "List of Handlers with Corrective Action Activity", and "List of RCRA Regulated Waste Notifiers (by state)". Click on a link for instructions to download files.
3. Dial-In Modem, Gopher, or FTP - Direct access to the database on the EPA mainframe through dial-in modem, gopher, or ftp is limited to EPA and state RCRA implementors and their approved contractors.
