AQTESOLV (pronounced AK ti solv) is user-friendly, menu-driven software for determining hydraulic properties of aquifers from pumping tests and slug tests. AQTESOLV provides over a dozen aquifer test analytical solutions for simple and complex aquifer conditions including slug tests in confined and unconfined aquifers, and pumping tests in confined, leaky, unconfined, and fractured aquifers. And, for greater convenience, AQTESOLV gives you all of these analytical solutions in one program.
AQTESOLV implements two methods for the estimation of aquifer parameters with each of the different analytical solutions: (1) on-screen visual matching of "type curves" to test data (the traditional method!) and (2) automatic "curve matching" through nonlinear least-squares parameter estimation. Used together, these two methods offer a powerful, quick, and efficient means of estimating aquifer properties. The visual curve-matching procedure allows you to see the position of the type curve and the estimated aquifer properties throughout your analysis. Plus, the automatic curve- matching feature provides statistical measures of the fit of a type curve to your data and adds objectivity to your analysis.
AQTESOLV also automates the entry of data from your test into the program. At every step of the analysis, AQTESOLV checks for data set completeness and compatibility of data with different solutions, prompting you if additional data are needed. Importing time-drawdown measurements recorded by pressure transducers only requires a very simple ASCII file format (two columns of data), and spreadsheet functions allow you to easily manipulate the data in the program.
