The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Environment, Safety and Occupational Health) (SAF/MIQ) establishes policy for, and oversees, worldwide Air Force environmental, occupational safety and health, base comprehensive planning, natural resources, disaster preparedness, explosive ordnance disposal, fire prevention and protection, air base performance and operability, community economic impact, and interagency and intergovernmental coordination matters. SAF/MIQ pioneers new frontiers in environment, safety and occupational health (ESOH) while leading the integration of existing ESOH programs.
SAF/MIQ's mission is to support the Air Force mission and the MIQ vision through policy oversight which enhances readiness, demonstrates the Air Force's commitment to being a good neighbor, and promotes increased Air Force productivity and performance at reduced costs.
SAF/MIQ protects the health and safety of Air Force employees and their families, promotes sound environmental practices that make Air Force installations the best neighbors in the community, and integrates the best in environment, safety and occupational health practices into all Air Force activities.
