Abstract:

Several low cost technologies for remediating soil and ground water contaminated with organic contaminants have been developed. Technologies to be covered in this course include natural attenuation, enhanced bioremediation, air sparging, and phytoremediation for remediation of contaminated ground water, bioventing for remediation of contaminated soil, and bioslurping for removal of light nonaqueous-phase liquid. The successful implementation of any of these remedial technologies requires the collection of the appropriate site characterization data and detailed system design.
