BEC is a small Canadian-based company formed in the summer of 1993. BEC was established to offer consulting services and research support in ecotoxicology and environmental quality assessment. Mark Bonnell is a former member of Environment Canada and so brings a detailed scientific and regulatory knowledge base to the company. Gail Bonnell has been more active in the private sector of environmental research and adds this experience to the company. BEC's clients include government, industry, educational institutions and non-governmental organizations. The company is currently involved in the environmental risk assessment of chemicals and polymer substances entering the marketplace under the New Substance Notification Regulations of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), as well as conducting toxicity assessments at contaminated sites in Canada.
