SKC manufactures over 140 types of sorbent sample tubes for sampling a wide variety of hazardous chemical and vapors. Sorbent tubes have been established by OSHA and NIOSH as a reliable method of sampling chemical hazards.
A sorbent tube is a glass tube containing a sorbent that has been chosen to best collect a specific chemical hazard. Sorbent tubes are used with sampling pumps which draw the ambient air through the tube. Air is drawn through the sorbent tube for a specific time period (which is determined by the analytical method employed) and the chemical is trapped in the sorbent. After sampling, the sorbent tube is sent to the laboratory for desorption and analysis. A single tube may provide enough sample for several analyses.
Many SKC sorbent tubes meet or have been validated by EPA, OSHA and NIOSH methods. Custom tubes are available from SKC.
