The Scentoscreen is a basic gas chromatograph equipped with one port for calibration and sampling, an isothermally operated oven, and one detector. The Scentoscreen is calibrated on one compound and is equipped with a library system used to identify other compounds. As an accessory item, a purge and trap device is available which is used to draw samples from aqueous media. This purge and trap accessory consists of a single needle set connected to the Scentoscreen.
The Scentoscreen Plus instrument has additional features that expand its capability and useability. These include the installation of a separate calibration port in addition to the sample port, a temperature programmable oven, the ability to perform automatic continuous monitoring, and calibration on multiple compounds. Both the Scentoscreen and Scentoscreen Plus can be equipped with a heated injection port for the injection of aqueous or gaseous samples into the instrument.
Our Scentograph "Plus II" can be configured with additional optional items such as dual detectors, a combination sampling loop and preconcentrator assembly, a full column backflush, and heated injection port. Also available is a Stack Gas Monitor option which allows the GC to check samples coming off a stack 100 feet away at temperatures of 300 to 400 degrees F. The Scentograph "Plus II" can also operate external accessories, such as stack or soil gas samplers, and purge and trap devices.
Our Aquascan system is a continuous online water monitoring instrument designed to automatically sample and analyze from up to six separate locations using purge and trap gas chromatography. The system is available in a portable, side by side configuration with our Scentograph "Plus II" instrument or in a NEMA 12 rack mounted enclosure with desktop computer and Epson compatible dot matrix printer.

Limitations:
The portability of the GC limits the system to operate on battery power supply and an oven much smaller compared to that of a laboratory GC. Thus the temperature programming is possible only to a maximum of 179 degrees C. The cooling rate of the oven during temperature programming operation is also much slower than that of a laboratory GC, which slows down the programming procedure.
