Abstract:

The National Water Use Information Program determines (on a national level) how much fresh and saline surface water and groundwater are withdrawn and for what purposes, how much of this water is consumed during use, and how much water is returned to the source after use. The National Water Conditions Reporting System collects and analyzes streamflow data from 190 sites in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The water Resources Assessment Program contains statistics on water availability, water quality, hydrologic hazards, and management activities. Public inquiries should be made to the USGS Water Resources Division.
