Overview of State Regulations
Arkansas has adopted federal asbestos regulations. The state is NESHAP-delegated by the EPA Region 6.
State/Federal Agencies Involved with the State Asbestos Program
The following agencies/entities have asbestos-related regulatory and enforcement responsibilities in Arkansas:
A. The Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology (contact phone (501) 682-0720, general phone (501) 682-0744) is involved in the following state/federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:
- training courses - The state training course program for asbestos personnel is not approved by the EPA Region 6.
- certifications
- licensing
- pre-abatement notifications/approvals

- NESHAP/demolition/renovation/wet/tag/bag/bury
- site audit/inspections
- sampling/site clearance requirements.
