The US Geological Survey (USGS) publishes and provides access to a number of scientific and technical reports, books, fact sheets, professional papers, technical data, and other resources. These publications and other resources are available through any Earth Science Information Center (ESIC), which offer nationwide information and sales service for USGS map products and earth science publications. The ESICs provide information about geologic, hydrologic, topographic, and land use maps, books, and reports; aerial, satellite, and radar images and related products; earth science and map data in digital format and related applications software; and geodetic data.
USGS Publications and Data Products are summarized online at the USGS publications World Wide Web site listed below. The site contains an online search engine which allows users to search for USGS formal publications and data, including bulletins, circulars, professional papers, thematic maps, water use data, mapping software, geospatial data, and more. In addition, new publications of the USGS are listed online by year (for 1995 - 1997), and separated into CD-ROM's, Fact Sheets, Books, Periodicals, Informal Reports, Outside Publications, Thematic Maps, and Topographic Maps. Brief abstracts are available online describing some of the publications. Information on how to order publications is also presented.
