Abstract:

Safety-Kleen serves the waste recycling needs of companies in the automotive, industrial, paint refinishing, dry cleaning, printing, and photographic imaging industries. Safety-Kleen collects used products, such as oils, oily water, solvents, and antifreeze, at hundreds of outlets across the USA, and recycles these wastes at thirteen recycle centers, two lube oil re-refineries, and three fuel-blending facilities.

          Industrial Waste Services
          Industrial Waste Services includes the service and maintenance of parts cleaners, the removal and recycling of drummed liquid wastes, absorbent recovery, and new integrated waste offerings that recover and process waste streams not previously handled by Safety-Kleen.

          Automotive/Retail Repair Service
          Service to the automotive industry includes the cleaning and maintenance of parts washers, the recovery and replacement of the cleaning solution, and the proper recovery and handling of waste filters, absorbent material and other waste products. The service handles a variety of solvent-based parts cleaners as well as aqueous brake cleaners, aqueous parts cleaners and the cyclonic "green" machine cleaner.

          Vacuum Services, a new business added in 1996, was created to remove the built-up sludge and oil debris from underground oil/water separators found at most automotive repair maintenance facilities.

          Oil Recovery Services
          The Oil Recovery Service collects used lubricating oil from customers in the automotive and industrial markets Safety-Kleen serves. The lube oil is then transferred to one of the Company's re-refining facilities where a portion of the product is converted into a high quality base lube stock, with the remainder of the product used in the fuel market or as a component of other products, such as asphalt.

          Other Services
          The paint refinishing service includes paint spray gun cleaner service, buffing pads and waste paint removal. The dry cleaner service incorporates filter and sludge removal. Imaging Services offers on-site recycling and silver recovery for photochemical material processing. Envirosystems services the reclamation needs of large industrial waste generators.

          Note: Safety-Kleen and Laidlaw environmental services have merged. The combined company will be called Safety-Kleen Corporation..
