Overview of State Regulations
New Hampshire has state regulations which in addition to adopting Federal EPA regulations for asbestos. For some issues the state regulations are more strict than the Federal Regulations.
State/Federal Agencies Involved with the State Asbestos Program
The following agencies/entities have asbestos-related regulatory and enforcement responsibilities in New Hampshire:
A. The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Waste Management Division, Solid Waste Management Bureau (contact phone (603) 271-2925) is involved in the following state/federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:
- training courses - The state training course program for asbestos personnel is partially approved by the EPA Region 1.
- pre-abatement notifications/approvals
- review of abatement designs
