Topography is the three-dimensional shape of a land surface, including its relief and the position of features, both manmade and natural. Raw topographic data may be used for making surface models or for analyses in conjunction with other data to evaluate resources or hazards.
National Geophysical Data Center topographic data consist of elevations generally having a vertical precision from 6 to 30 meters; some data also include terrain characteristics. Available data products show numerous datum, accuracies, resolution and sources.
