Abstract:

The Civil Engineering Database (CEDB) is designed to provide easy bibliographic access to all American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) publications. The database, which covers ASCE documents published since 1975, provides abstracts for over 80,000 bibliographic and abstracted records from journals, conference proceedings, books, standards, manuals, magazines, and newsletters. Abstracts can be viewed at no cost, the full documents must be purchased from ASCE.

Engineering subject areas covered by the CEDB include: Aerospace Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Bridges, Cold Regions, Computer Practices, Construction, Earthquake Engineering, Education, Engineering Mechanics, Environmental Engineering, Forensic Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Highways, Hydrology, Hydraulics, Irrigation and Drainage, Management, Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation, Urban Planning, Water Resources, Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering.

          How To Access The Data

          1. A search page with instructions can be used to find abstracts in the database. Once a document has been located, users can purchase a conference proceeding, manual, standard, committee report, or a book by searching the online Publications Catalog to find out the price, and then linking to the Book Order form page to place an order.

          2. Photocopies of articles may be obtained from the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering, and Technology in Kansas City, Missouri.
