Technology Description:

FyBX Fibers are created from the waste material which is generated from the harvesting of bananas in Latin America. FyBX has developed a patented process that ultimately creates an oleophilic fiber that has been demonstrated to be as effective as their synthetic counterparts.

FyBX Fibers (f2) are non-toxic, non-flammable, and make use of materials that are considered nothing but a waste that would have ended up in a landfill. f2 fibers will recover any type of oil from diesels to heavy crudes in any type of conditions, salt water, land-based spills, etc. The fibers will absorb the oil while resisting absorption of water. Once saturated, the fibers will float indefinitely.

Saturated fibers can be used as an alternate fuel source; they burn cleanly and efficiently with a high BTU value and low ash residuum.

F2 fibers can be used as a loose fiber, or they can be purchased in booms, pillows, socks, pads or other products.

F2 fibers are more cost effective than the synthetics while producing the same results.
Performance Status/
Limitations:

F2 fibers have been tested extensively in virtually every oil spill condition. Without exception, f2 fibers have performed comparable to, if not better than, polypropylene products. F2 fibers out-perform other natural products by a considerable degree. Test results are shown on FyBX's website at www.fybx.com.

The only limitation to the f2 fibers is that volumes are currently limited. Although FyBX has unlimited access to raw materials, construction of manufacturing plants has only begun and will not be fully operational until year end 2000.
