Abstract:

These cloud data are derived from the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP-C). Global cloud data provide a study of the entire Earth's atmosphere. The data set contains averages and variances of various cloud radiative properties derived from the ISCCP project.

This data set contains averages and variances of various cloud radiative properties derived from the ISCCP-B3 radiance data. The ISCCP-C step contains two stages, C1 and C2. The C1 stage represents the global cloud data every 3 hours at a resolution of 250 by 250 km. The C2 stage contains the monthly averages and other summary statistics of the C1 stage quantities. The data are collected every 3 hours starting at 0000 Greenwich mean time (GMT). The data can be read from tape in either equal area or equal latitude-longitude increments. Some of the variables included are the following: fractional cloud cover, spatial mean and variances of cloud optical thickness, cloud top temperature and height, cloud size distribution, surface temperature, and reflectively topography. Correlative data would include atmospheric temperature, ozone abundance, and humidity.
