Overview of State Regulations
Hawaii's present state asebestos regulations are Federal EPA adopted. State and county regulations are expected to be enforced in early 1998. The state is NESHAP-delegated by the EPA Region 9.
State/Federal Agencies Involved with the State Asbestos Program
The following agencies/entities have asbestos-related regulatory and enforcement responsibilities in Hawaii:
A. The Hawaii Department of Health, Noise, Radiation, and Indoor Air Quality (general phone (808) 586-5800) is involved in the following state/federal asbestos enforcement/requirements:

Laboratory Requirements
The state has requirements for laboratory accreditations to perform asbestos analyses.
