Author Search
Author Search - Search by Book Author/Editor, allows you to perform word searches to find a book author. Type in any author’s name in the Search by Book Author/Editor box and hit GO.
Here are a few simple conventions:
- Use spaces or commas to separate words (e.g. type Hazardous Waste, or Hazardous, Waste) - either way works.
- Selecting either AND or OR by clicking on the proper radial button designates a search that looks for listings that contain all of the words typed in the current line (AND) or listings that contain any of the words (OR). For example, if you enter Water Pollution as search words and the button reads AND then the search will look for listings with both Water AND Pollution in them. If you enter Water Pollution as search words and the button reads OR then the search will look for listings with either Water OR Pollution in them.
- Use quotes to specify searching for phrases ("Hazardous Waste" specifies the requirement for these two words to be adjacent - basically it further defines an AND designation). A phrase can be two or more words. Anything included in the phrase must be found (e.g. "Health & Safety" will specify the requirement for an &).
- Searches are not case sensitive (i.e. capitalization does not matter).
- Word variations are included when searching for text. A word variation is a different form of a word. For example, if you are searching for "drink", the search will find "drinks" and "drinking," as well as "drink." The search will find only variations when the base word does not change in forming the variation.
